2024 A Year of Achievements for Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company - A Quantum Leap in Logistics Services with 1.7 Million TEU Handled

As part of the government’s strategic vision to position Egypt as a global and regional hub for maritime transport, logistics, and transshipment trade, and under the directives of His Excellency Vice Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, DCHC has fully committed to these objectives. Admiral Dr. Rafik Galal - the Executive Managing Director of DCHC, announced significant achievements in both quantitative production and revenue for the fiscal year 2024. The company recorded a total container throughput of 1,709,869 TEUs, encompassing activities via vessels, trains, and trucks. Competitive Performance Amidst Regional and Global Challenges Despite fierce competition in the Eastern Mediterranean and domestic markets, coupled with regional geopolitical challenges, DCHC adopted innovative marketing strategies, relying on its skilled and experienced workforce, advanced equipment, and continuous development initiatives. In 2024, Damietta Container Terminal achieved a total throughput of 1,571,249 TEUs via vessels. This figure includes inbound containers arriving at Egyptian ports, outbound containers destined for international markets, and transshipment containers passing through the ports. Additionally, supplementary operations on vessels, such as shift and hatch cover movements, contributed to the terminal’s heightened activity. For containers handled via trains and trucks, the total throughput amounted to 138,620 TEUs. This figure includes various operations, such as the return of empty containers from imports, empty containers transported from other ports via road, and empty containers received by train. It also covers the dispatch of empty containers by train, empty containers for local stuffing and exports, as well as inbound and outbound local containers. Recognition as a Top 100 Global Container Terminal For the first time in its history, DCHC was ranked among the Top 100 Container Terminals Worldwide for 2024 according to a report by Lloyd’s List. This achievement highlights the company’s progress despite intense competition from container terminals within Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean region. In recognition of this milestone, DCHC was honored during the 2024 World Maritime Day celebration by His Excellency Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir - Vice Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport.
