DCHC Hosts a Delegation from the Free Zone of Gilyanah, Libya, to Explore Advanced Container Handling Systems
As part of efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and exchange expertise among Arab countries, DCHC (Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co.) received a delegation from the Free Zone of Gilyanah, Libya, on Monday, May 20, 2025. The visit aimed to explore the company’s pioneering experience in its recent development plans, which have enhanced operational efficiency and improved service quality. The delegation also reviewed the implementation of the Navis N4 container terminal operating system, one of the most advanced global systems for managing container terminals, which boosts operational efficiency and ensures the highest standards of quality in container handling.
The visiting delegation included Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Hamid Negm and Engineer Hani Gomaa Mahmoud Al-Adouli from the Free Zone of Gilyanah, Libya. Joining the visit were Engineer Mohamed El-Qadi and Engineer Ahmed Ezzat from Integrated Solutions, the company supervising the Navis N4 system at Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company. They were welcomed by Admiral Dr. Rafik Galal - Executive Managing Director of DCHC (Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co.), who expressed his pleasure at hosting the guests. He emphasized that this visit is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a leading regional hub for container handling and to exchange expertise with sister nations, organizations, and companies operating in the port and logistics sectors on both regional and international levels. This aligns with Egypt’s strategic vision of becoming a global and regional maritime transport and logistics hub and a key player in transit trade.
During the visit, the company’s team delivered a presentation showcasing its capabilities, recent developments, and ongoing projects. These include the addition of new berths, expanded storage areas (such as a shared car warehouse and a refrigerated storage yard), the establishment of new electronic gates linked to the Navis N4 system, and the implementation phases and operational benefits of the system. The presentation highlighted the key advantages achieved through the system’s application, including smoother operations, reduced handling times, and improved operational accuracy.
The visiting delegation also toured the container terminal and various operational facilities, gaining firsthand insights into the company’s systems and operations. Delegation members expressed their admiration for the high level of technology utilized and the professionalism exhibited by Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company in managing its operations.
The Free Zone of Gilyanah’s decision to visit Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company underscores the latter’s status as one of the leading ports in the Eastern Mediterranean.
